Frequently Asked Questions

What are medication monitoring services?
Because certain drugs can sometimes interact with one another (such as diminishing efficacy or causing adverse reactions) we offer this monitoring service to ensure your healthcare provider knows exactly what medications you are currently taking. The results help your healthcare provider safely prescribe medication as part of your treatment plan. Our lab can test urine or saliva for a broad range of medications.
Combining certain drugs can be harmful. With data available through medication monitoring, your healthcare provider is better informed and can prescribe the most appropriate medications for you. Medication monitoring can prompt more open discussions about your treatment plan with your healthcare provider — and help keep you safe.
Prescription medications are a common form of treatment in many different aspects of medicine. The likelihood of two drugs acting adversely in a patient’s body is increasing because prescription medications are so widely prescribed.
You will provide a urine or saliva sample under the direction of your healthcare provider’s office. Please follow the instructions carefully. The collection device they give you may contain instant-read test strips — do not tamper with these test strips. Your healthcare provider’s staff will interpret the preliminary results; they may also send the sample to an outside laboratory, such as TEN Healthcare, for further analysis and/or additional testing.
The lab will run all tests requested by your healthcare provider. This may include Urine Drug Testing (UDT) to confirm the levels of both prescribed and non-prescribed medication in your system. TEN Healthcare is the facility testing your specimen because your healthcare provider chose us.
Yes. TEN Healthcare complies with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and all applicable state privacy regulations.
Testing schedules vary with each person. Your healthcare provider makes this determination based on your medical needs.
